Kiss me, oil on canvas, 60x50cm
Tadija is one of the painters whose practice always deals with the life of contemporary man, he depicts the segments of life that bring to light its lack of proportion, its inconsistencies, dilemmas, frustrations, and other shortcomings… By questioning and probing the relativity and temporary nature of the moral, ethical, and even artistic norms of the world in which he lives, Tadija has chosen, as his key strategy, (self)ironic play with the motifs and myths of today. The running theme of his painting is the emptiness – emotional, as well as intellectual, and conceptual – that is characteristic of human existence, which is dissatisfied with what it sees and chronically distrustful of what it hears. Instead of asking questions or rather giving (any) answers, Tadija Janičić’s painting prefers to identify the reason/state and mood of its participants.
